What is Heated Clothing?

Heating Clothing was invented in 2001 by MET5 as a mobile evolution of the original Electric Blanket. Today, heated apparel is washable and portable and heats clothing through (waterproof) carbon fiber heating pads located inside the clothing.

Typically charged by Lithium-ion batteries, the Best Heated Jackets can run up to 8 hours on a single charge and even charge your cell phone via a USB port

Types of Heated Clothing:

A variety of heated apparel options are available, including jackets, vests, gloves, pants, and even hats. Today’s heated clothing reviews focus on the most popular garment: The Heated Jacket.

Check out the many other heated clothing options available for winter activities, such as snow blowing, hunting, fishing, winter sports, motorcycle or snowmobile rides.

Many types of heated apparel now connect to a single battery power source for full-body heating.

First, let’s find the Heated Jacket and Hoodie, followed by the Best Heated Vest for winter activities to keep you extra warm.

Best Heated Jacket Reviews – Updated 2026

Editor’s Choice:  Best Heated Jacket – “Dewbu” 12-Volt Soft Shell

No products found.

Why We Like It

The Dewbu Heated jacket brand is our first choice for the best bang for the buck.  Besides excellent reviews by our staff and online praise, the Dewbu jacket checks all the boxes we looked for in a heated coat.

If you’re looking for the best heated jackets for women, the fit and style of this jacket also top our list, and it is available in a wide array of sizes, including women’s and men’s (Click links below to see size).

With five heating zones (at the arms, front, and back), three heat settings, and an included LED display and 12-volt battery pack, you will be fully prepared to jump into the cold this winter. It’s like having built-in heaters on your back.

The lithium-ion battery powers the five carbon fiber heating pads, delivering heat for 4 hours (Highest setting) and up to 8 hours on the lowest setting.

Runner Up: Best Heated Jacket:  “Ororo” 7.4 Volt -10 Hr. Heat

ORORO Women's Classic Heated Jacket, Shell Jacket with Battery (BK,S)

Why We Like It

The Ororo heated jacket is probably one of the “best values in heated jackets” on the market.

While it lacks some features of our Best Heated Jacket pick from Dewbu, the Ororo jacket also features a warm but detachable hood, ideal when less protection from the cold, rain, or snow is needed.

Due to the high value of this brand, Ororo is one of the undisputed best-heated clothing brands in the world.

Specifications

  • Three temperature settings
  • Three heating zones
  • 7.4 Volt Lithium-Ion Battery (U.L. Certified
  • Phone Charging Capability
  • Up to 10 hours of continuous heating
  • Two colors (Black & Blue)
  • USB port for Mobile Phone Charging
  • Machine Washable (Remove battery first)

Our Takeaway:

This Ororo heated coat is an affordable jacket with the built-in features of a well-crafted jacket, including a waterproof, windproof shell, four large pockets, and a durable YKK zipper—features typically found in more expensive brands.

Another great feature of this model is that the four legs adjust independently, allowing you to set it up in spots where the ground is not entirely even without any difficulty.

“Best Value” Heated Jacket – “GoKozy” Heated Jacket

No products found.

Why We Like It

Suppose you’re after a dependable, waterproof, heated jacket with a hood and can’t afford to consider higher-priced brands such as Ororo or Dewbu. In that case, the GoKozy heated coat is well worth considering.

With 7.4V battery power, three temperature settings, and heat lasting up to 9 hours, this heated jacket meets or exceeds most buyers’ demands.

Available in Unisex sizing – GoKozy includes Women’s heated jacket sizes, as well as Men’s heated jacket sizes, and both can be seen by clicking the link below:

Specifications:  GoKozy Heated Jacket

  • 7.4-volt Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger included
  • 3-Heat Temperature Control Settings
  • High (4 hours) Medium (6 Hours) Low (9 Hours)
  • 4 – Carbon Fiber Heating Zones (2 @ Chest, 1@ @ Neck and Back)
  • Attractive Ripstop – Wrinkle Scratch Resistant Polyester
  • Detachable Quality Fleece-Lined Hood
  • Double YKK Zippers
  • Velcro Adjustable Cuffs
  • 4 pockets in Front of the Jacket
  • Fleece-lined interior
  • Water-resistant fabric
  • Separate power buttons (one for the front, one for the back)
  • Wind and Weatherproof Soft Shell
  • Color: Black
  • Unisex Sizing – Small to 2XL

Our Takeaway:

“Value” products often relate to “Cheaper Grade” products. However, the GoKozy Brand heated jacket includes top-quality features that are usually found in much higher-priced garments, even a few that they don’t offer.

For example, the GoKozy Heated Coat has 4 front pockets, compared to 3 on the other brands. Some heated jackets don’t include a hood, while others only include a foldable, lightweight hood.

In contrast, GoKozy features a detachable hood of the same high-quality fabrics as the heated jacket.

One note about the GoKozy jacket: it’s intended to be a “Slim Fit” design.  For instance, as a size 40 Regular, I ordered and received my GoKozy jacket in Men’s Small (based on the size chart).

The jacket looks and fits great, hugging the torso nicely (see photo below). If you plan to bulk up on undergarments like thermal wear or sweaters, I suggest ordering the next size larger than the size chart recommendation.

Wearing GoKozy Heated Jacket – Besthomegear.com

Perhaps the only noticeable compromise with the GoKozy jacket is its 7.4-volt battery, compared to the 12-volt battery offered in brands such as Dewbu.

Overall, the GoKozy Heated Jacket is a winner. It is well-constructed, easy to use, and very comfortable to own.

Best Heated Jacket For Work – DeWalt – 20 Volt

DEWALT Unisex Adult With 2.0ah Battery and Charger DEWALT Heated Lightweight Soft Shell Jacket, Black, Medium US

Why We Like It

DeWalt is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of work equipment. This coat is no exception, offering built-in engineering, comfort, and safety features that other heated jackets lack.  Available in Men’s and Women’s sizes, this is easily the best-heated jacket for working outdoors.

Specifications

  • 3 – Heated Panel Zones
  • 3 – Temperature Control Settings
  • 20 Volt Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger Included
  • Fully Adjustable Cuffs and Waistband
  • Unisex Sizing – Small to 3XL
  • Durable Waterproof Shell
  • Warm Fleece Lining
  • Reflective Piping For Illuminated Safety
  • Cold Weather Wind-Break Zipper Design

Our Takeaway

When we examined the best-heated work coats, we were left with one clear choice: DeWalt.  It is not the warmest heating coat on the market because it offers only three heating zones, not the most. However, if you work outside, you’re generating a lot of body heat.

Instead, DeWalt shines by incorporating other essential features, such as reflective piping—a slim fit that won’t get in the way of your work—and adjustable cuffs and a waistband.

Additionally, it is compatible with the tried-and-true 20-volt MAX battery system. That feature alone is enough to seal the deal for buyers who use this jacket with other battery-powered DeWalt power tools they already own.

Given the value of this work jacket and its additional features noted above, it is clear why we nominated the DeWalt Heated Jacket as the best heated jacket for working outside.

Best Heated Jacket with “Hand Warmers” – Ptadhus 7.4V

PTAHDUS Men's Heated Performance Jacket with Hand Warmer (X-Large, Includes 7.4V Battery Pack) Black

Why We Like It

While we can all appreciate the upper-body comfort of a heated jacket, the Ptadhus heated jacket takes it a step further by targeting the front pocket areas as heat zones (hand warmers) for added hand warmth.

Some other heated jackets have hand zones, like the Dewbu brand; Dewbu also distributes heat to the “arm” zones.

The Ptadhus does not offer arm zone heating, so more energy is devoted to the chest and hand-warming zones of the heated jacket.

It’s a good idea for those who lack enough circulation to warm their hands in winter. After all, once your hands and feet are cold, your entire body is cold!

For the feet, you will need to look at heated socks for warmth. However, for hand warmth only, the heated coat from Ptadhus has got you covered.

Specifications

  • Carbon Fiber Heating Elements
  • 5 Heating Zones – Including Hand Warmers
  • 7.4 Volt lithium-ion battery with Charger
  • Durable Wind and Weatherproof Soft Shell
  • Machine Washable
  • 3- Temperature Settings with LED control
  • Women’s Style comes with a Hood
  • Two Colors for Men’s and Women’s styles

Our Takeaway

We admire manufacturers when they respond to the market needs, in this case, by adding heating zones for the hands.  It doesn’t matter how warm the rest of you may be; if your hands are frozen, it will be challenging to engage in any outdoor activity

Best Motorcycle Heated Jacket – “Venture” 12V – Heated Motorcycle Jacket

Venture Heat Motorcycle Heated Jacket Liner with Bluetooth Control, 7 Heating Zones 78W - Men's (XL)

Why We Like It

Motorcycle enthusiasts all know – when you’re traveling down the road at 70 mph on an early spring or late fall 50-degree day – it’s COLD.  The Venture heated jacket features a 12-volt (78-watt) charging system, making it ideal.

Designed specifically for riders, the heated jacket plugs into your motorcycle battery for continuous all-day warmth—one of the best tools you can have on board.

The Venture heated motorcycle jacket is also one of the few that can be controlled via Bluetooth from your mobile phone app.  The purchase includes a pouch for portability and storing the jacket in panniers.

With a slim-fit design, this heated jacket can also be used as a heated coat or “liner” under your motorcycle jacket.  In addition, Venture offers a complete line of heating apparel designed to connect with and be used with their heated coat.

Specifications

  • 7 – Heating zones (Sleeves, Chest, Back, and Collar)
  • 3- Temperature control settings – LED button on the jacket
  • 10- Temperature control settings with Bluetooth app.
  • Wind and Water Resistant
  • Machine washable
  • Stow-away pouch for easy storage in a pannier
  • 12-volt Lithium Battery with connectivity to your motorcycle, ATV, or snowmobile auxiliary socket
  • Unlimited heated run-time (with 12-volt riding equipment plug-in)

Our Takeaway

While certainly not ideal or designed to be everyone’s daily heated jacket, the Venture heated motorcycle jacket was made specifically for the outdoor motor enthusiast.

Whether that involves a motorcycle, ATV, or pushing snow on your snowmobile, you can stay warm with this jacket.

Best Heated Hunting Jacket – Makita “Camo” 18v

Makita DCJ201Z2XL 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Mossy Oak Heated Jacket, Camo,2X-Large

Why We Like It

Makita is one of the world’s top-rated power tool manufacturers.  The Makita heated jacket incorporates all their engineering and know-how into a premier heated hunting and work jacket.

One caution for those who do not already use Makita battery-powered tools: the 18-volt lithium-ion battery and charger are sold separately (not included with heated jackets).

Specifications

  • Longest available heated run time – up to 28 hours
  • Removable sleeves – converts to a Vest
  • Works with any Makita 18-volt lithium-ion battery system
  • Note:  Battery and Charger are Sold Separately
  • Fast heating
  • On/Off Heat button LED lighting
  • 3 – Heating Control Settings
  • 3- Heat Zones – Chest and Back
  • Knitted storm cuffs, fleece-lined collar, and drawstring waist
  • Camouflage Pattern – ideal for Hunting

Our Takeaway

Depending on the weather, many hunters (especially bow hunters) prefer the freedom of hunting with a vest on rather than full sleeves.

The Makita heated jacket is one of the only “convertible” heated jackets that allow you to use it as a Heated Hunting Vest – and in this case, a Camouflage Vest.

And, with an industry-leading heated runtime of up to 28 hours, you can stay in the woods all day with the Makita heated jacket and still stay warm.

Reminders: Makita lithium-ion batteries are sold separately, and the 18-volt Makita battery will be a little bulky in the storage pocket.

And lastly, at nearly $400 (without a battery), this heated jacket is not for the faint of heart (or wallet).

The Ororo heated hoodie is one of the best-heated hoodies on the market.

Ororo is also the only heated hoodie we reviewed that offers a combination of polyester (waterproof) and cotton (comfort, breathable) fabric.

No products found.

Like our editor’s choice of best-heated hoodie from Ororo – The Venustas heated hoodie is another go-to hoodie, which offers even more (five) heating elements.

Generally priced at or around the Ororo hoodie, the Venustas brand is a little less known and is 100% cotton (no polyester), but it does feature two additional heat zones at both shoulders.

Specifications

  • 5 – Heating Carbon Heat Pads
  • 3 – Heat Control Settings LED
  • Premium Zipper
  • Storm cuffs and hem.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How Does a Heated Jacket Work?

Heated jackets have a “heater” built into the coat’s lining. This includes Multiple heating “pads” (3 – 5 typically) located in the jacket’s chest, back, and sometimes collar or arms.

The heating pads are usually made with carbon fiber and are powered by a 7.4V or larger Lithium-ion battery.

The lithium battery is pre-charged on a typical A/C current, then “plugged in” to the heated jacket – and stored in a separate interior pocket.

Are Heated Jackets Safe?

The heating elements in a heated jacket are made of carbon fiber and are contained in waterproof cases. Heated jackets, if used as designed, are safe from electric shock.  Heated jackets are cordless; there is no direct AC electric connection while wearing the garment, which operates on battery power.

NOTE:  Most modern heated jackets are machine washable – But don’t forget to remove the exposed lithium battery before you wash.

How do you Charge Heated Jackets?

Heated jackets are powered by plugging the concealed lithium-ion battery charger into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. After charging the battery, plug the battery into the jacket and go. There are no moving parts and no wiring to worry about.

How Long Does a  Heated Jacket Stay Warm?

The answer depends on the size of the lithium-ion battery the manufacturer provides for heating the jacket. Most 7.4Volt Heated jackets will stay warm between 6-8 hours on a full charge.

Some manufacturers offer 12 Volt batteries with heated run times of up to 12 or 28 hours.

However, power tool companies like DeWalt, Makita, and Milwaukee offer 12-, 18-, or even 24-volt batteries for their heated jackets, which are interchangeable with their entire line of power tools.

Can you charge a Mobile phone with a Heated Jacket?

You can quickly charge a mobile phone (via a USB port) with the heated jacket battery pack. Almost all modern heated jackets have a USB port for charging devices – or in some cases, multiple USB ports (DeWalt), to charge mobile phones.

You will, of course, need to carry a USB mobile cord to do so.

Who Makes the Best Heated Jacket?

The answer depends on “How” you plan to use your Heated Jacket.  Our recommendations are as follows;

  • For comfort working around the home or on daily errands, we like the Dewbu and Ororo heated jackets, which are the best for overall warmth, style, and value.
  • For work-related tasks like construction and farm chores, we like the DeWalt heated jacket’s comfort, fit, safety, and durability.
  • For the Best Value, we like the Heated Jacket from GoKozy.
  • Lastly, most heated jackets have only 6-8 hours of heated runtime per charge.  If your work or play requires more extended periods outside, choose a heated jacket with longer “heated” run times.  Ororo is rated at 12 hours of “heated” runtime, while the Makita heated jacket boasts an outstanding 28 hours per charge.

Conclusion

Today’s heated apparel has come a long way since its inception 20 years ago. Heated clothing is now available for just about any cold winter activity – well, except one – The polar plunge, but those people are just plain crazy :)

Going about your daily tasks, work, or play in the winter can be miserably cold for some.  The heated jacket is a “tool” that helps alleviate those cold-weather blues.

If you spend your winters outside for work or play, you know how important it is to keep warm in icy cold temperatures, and just in case you missed it, you don’t have to freeze outside anymore.

That is due to the invention of heated clothing for virtually every body part.  Originally called the “electric jacket,” this review includes the modern version of the best-heated jackets, vests, and hoodies on the market.

Heated clothing adds that extra layer of warmth and protection from the cold (and makes those freezing-cold vinyl car seats more bearable).

In addition, because of the vast array of competitive manufacturers supplying heated clothing, prices are now very affordable, and the choices for snow blowing, hunting, working, or playing are extensive.

So choose well, based on your preferred winter activities, and give one of these marvels of winter apparel.
